Earth Day Pledge

Most of you know that this Thursday, April 22 is the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. Rather than trying to accomplish Herculean feats of Green-ness, why not pledge to do one thing for the rest of the year?

Maybe you already recycle, why not pledge to turn off the water when you brush your teeth?

Maybe you’ve already switched your incandescent bulbs to CFLs, why not pledge to use fewer (or no) paper towels?

Maybe you already buy organic at the store, why not pledge to grow one food item on your own?

Maybe you already combine trips to save gas, why not pledge to walk or bike a little more?

The options are unlimited. Ultimately, though, choosing one thing and doing it consistently over the course of a year is far better than doing 10 things for one day and one day only.

Find something that matters to you, that will be fairly easy for you to implement, something that works with your lifestyle.

Then pledge to do it.

Let us know what you chose in the comments.

  1. I WILL become more green! My wife and I (with the “help” of our kids, 9, 5 and 3) are planting a vegetable garden in the yard, and I am growing my own little herb garden that I think will inspire me to be a better cook. Go Earth!

  2. That’s great, Ian. Let us know how it goes!
